Out of the GSX-R1000, the RC51, and the 954 what would have the best handling in the curves...

In theory:

954 turns and changes direction the fastest. RC and Gixxer should be slightly more stable when in the turn.

What Racer said... THe one with the best rider on it.

From strictly a feel standpoint, I'd go with the RC51.

But they are close enough that a person can be equally fast on any of them. If you are slow then you will be equally slow on all three.

The RC is heavy enough that you'll feel the extra weight in side to side transitions if you ride it back to back against one of the others. The rest is more dependent upon what you do with suspension setup, tire choice, riding style, than anything inherent in the bike, though the 929 does have the rep for being the quickest turning. Which usually means it'll feel less planted in sweepers than a bike not set up quite so aggressively.

Bottom line: if it give you a stiffy, then it's the one!

try a Mille and a Ducati as well for comaprison in handeling.

A pro (very good) rider can take a 10 year old sportbike and smoke most on the showroom floor in the corners. I have seen it done and still shaken my head in amazement.

Really , every new supersport is capable of so much more than it is possible to push one on the street and is capable of so much more than almost all riders could manage anyway , it's a moot point . It's a question of whatever an individual prefers and is most comfortable on .
As far as going fast at the Gap , it's pretty embarassing to get toasted by an otherwise stock 40hp XR650 motard when you're on a 130hp missile :laughing HP is pretty much irrelevant on the really good roads in the SE , good suspension and having faith in your tires is far more important than what machine you're actually riding . I prefer having a light , relatively low powered machine in really twisty stuff but of those listed , I'd probably pick the 954 . The Gixxer is just too much of everything everywhere and the RC51 seems to be pretty high effort to me and is much more suited to track duty than street usage IMO .

They'll all handle Deals Gap. However, I'm with Joel on this one "less is more" when it comes to horsepower and Deals Gap. I ws faster through DG on my 600 than I am on my Gixxer 1K. YMMV.

You're slowing down Steve... It took you at least 3 min longer to post a reply than I expected. I'm going to move on - it's no longer a challenge trying to hook you. Now stop flopping around and get back in the water. :p :)

Ya got me , I just use the *Decrepit Dungheap* excuse [ (C) John P Burns ] to explain why I'm so friggin slow :redflip I really ride whatever I'm on at almost exactly the same speed : I'm equally as slow on pretty much whatever bike I'm riding , but I'm able to maintain my pace more easily and am much less fatigued on my ~ 74hp , 335lb Hawk than if I'm on something with an excess of weight and horsepower . It's probably mostly due to what I'm used to and that having what I feel is too much go between turns screws up my rhythm of braking and cornering along with my inate sense of self preservation that doesn't let me go too fast , but I do admit that I'd kinda like a few more ponies on stuff like the CherryCola !

I was quite sure of all of the above with exception to the last one. :p Thank you for setting me straight! :rolleyes Joel, you have made my "abhor" list! :shake
